Description
Summary:
The manual provides suggestions for planning inservice teacher training. Basic foci of the booklet are explained to include examination of time distribution, room arrangement, audience participation, stimulation of audience interest, measurement of inservice effectiveness, and communication of inservice results. The manual is divided into considerations of three aspects of inservice planning (sample subtopics in parentheses): before the meeting (identifying inservice needs, selecting a presentor, employing a consultant, selecting the target audience, and freeing teachers for inservice sessions); during the meeting (getting the meeting off to a good start, seating arrangements to control the communication flow, eliciting verbal communication, using or producing media, dealing with emotions, reinforcing positively, asking questions, and summarizing ideas); and after the meeting (evaluating inservice, developing behavioral contracts, reporting success, and using constructive criticism).
