A total of 2,633 institutions responded, of which 2,341 reported enrollments in one or more foreign languages. In addition, a representative sample of 207 institutions and 286 foreign language departments were surveyed regarding the distribution of language course enrollments according to course level. Overall, registrations declined in ancient Greek and Russian, and Spanish continued to be the most commonly taught language. Twenty tables present full survey data by state or region for the seven most commonly taught languages and comparative data from 4 previous years. Additional tables report course level data from the subsample. (RW)
