Description
Summary:
Produced as part of a formal library review process, this publication reports the results of a 1981 survey of approximately 1000 undergraduates, postgraduates, and academic staff at the Australian National University (ANU) to determine their use of and satisfaction with facilities, materials, and services provided by ANU's library system. A high survey response rate is noted, and the sociodemographic characteristics of respondents and their amount of library usage are given. Further results are reported for respondents' use of and views toward the library subject catalog; reasons for using the services of readers' advisers and reference librarians; preference for types of material which could be microformed; preference for types of media communicating information about the library and use of the library; opinions of the adequacy of library holdings; level of satisfaction with the library; and perceptions of any library limitations or difficulties. A brief review of the findings, some concluding comments, and 31 tables of data are provided. Appendices comprise samples of the undergraduate, postgraduate, and academic staff questionnaires.
