Career Opportunities for Native American Students.

Designed for American Indian students planning to enter college following high school graduation, the handbook offers information on admission procedures, financial assistance, and programs. Helpful information offered includes a checklist and time line of activities to complete when applying for college; sample letters requesting information on enrollment and financial assistance; a budget sheet to determine college cost; ten rules to remember when seeking financial assistance; a checklist for financial aid --Basic Education Opportunity Grant (BEOG) and Bureau of Indian Affairs of BIA funding--and admissions; procedures to apply for higher education grants; directions on how to make an application for BIA grant money; and how to apply for a tribal roll number. Several listings of resource programs and people are provided. Listings include BIA area and agency offices including the tribes they serve; scholarship and grant programs that provide financial assistance for Indian students and/or a specific field of study; schools that offer special programs for Indian students; military-related programs; and adult vocational training services.
