|a The document describes the development and use of skill sequences in individualized education programs (IEPs) for mildly handicapped students. Developed to standardize format and terminology among teachers and parents, the sequences promote the continuity of instruction and the maintenance of consistent records. Sequences were developed for use from the time of the student's entry into the special education program to the student's exit. Procedures for marking skills sequences are explained and their use illustrated in a sample IEP. The format of the skill sequences includes space for grade level, mastery criteria, short term and long term objectives, starting dates, goal date, entry level skill, date of skill mastery, and initials of person responsible for determining entry level or mastered skills. Forms (including summary sheets) are included for the following subject areas: reading (decoding and comprehension), mathematics, spelling, study skills, and expressive writing. (CL)
