Description
Summary:
A study focused on the effect of a specific mathematics teachers training program on student achievement. Training of 33 eighth-grade mathematics teachers featured instruction in lesson format and management of the classroom and instruction. Observation of the teachers after the training indicated that the time training is given in the course of the school year is an important factor in achieving effectiveness as measured through student achievement. Results also indicated that teachers should be trained, with that training specifically tailored to data obtained from teacher observation. Mailing the training manual appeared not to be effective for self-training. (CB)
