Specific objectives were to: (1) identify the most suitable method of provider training; (2) learn how providers usually obtain information about young children, what information they have found to be most valuable, and what they believe will help them most in the future; and (3) obtain providers' views on legislation that would require providers to receive annual training. A survey was mailed to the 270 licensed family day care providers in the state and an open-ended instrument was mailed to the presidents of 10 organized family day care associations in the state. Results of the surveys are summarized and a list of implications and recommendations is offered. (RH)
