|a Operating within a milieu of social, political, and economic change, educators are under increasing pressure to provide information about their instructional efforts. As instructors are called upon to do different types of teaching and to conduct their teaching differently, evaluation procedures must also address these changes. Self-appraisal offers significant opportunity to address environmental changes in post-secondary institutes. Teaching dossiers (also called portfolios or folios) are a method of self-evaluation which offer a mechanism for educators to move beyond static conceptions of effective teaching to reflective and reliable models of performance evaluation.
