This workshop coordinates with the publication of a volume of "The Future of Children." The goal of the workshop is to bring together researchers, policymakers, health providers, and law enforcement to review available research literature on children and domestic violence. Topics that were addressed include prevalence and effect of exposure to domestic violence on children; systems-level responses to children; innovative program approaches and techniques for evaluating the programs; and laws and policies affecting children exposed to violence. The workshop manual contains the following sections: (1) Logistical Information; (2) Agenda; (3) Presenter Information; (4) Innovative Program Descriptions; (5) Background Readings (topics include child maltreatment and women abuse, problems associated with children witnessing violence, police and mental health professionals' responses to children and violence; and the London Family Court Clinic, a children's mental health clinic committed to advocacy of children and families involved in the justice system); and (6) Background on Board on Children, Youth, and Families.
