Saltzman); (4) "Accountability: Challenges for Higher Education" (William Zumeta); (5) "Benefits and Retirement: Challenges for the New Century" (Jay L. Chronister); (6) "Higher Education Finance Variable: An Analysis" (Deagelia M. Pena); and (7) "Higher Education Staff: Bearing the Brunt of Cost Containment" (Linda K. Johnsrud). The institutional faculty salary report provides salary and compensation information for 3,128 institutions. Data, which are organized by state, institutional type, and control, are based on 1998-1999 data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. Each chapter contains references.
