Know all men by these presents, that we [blank] of the city of New-York, are held and firmly bound unto James Morris, Esquire, sheriff of the city and county of New-York : in the sum of [blank] current money of the United States, to be paid to the said James Morris, his executors, administrators or assigns: to which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our and each of our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, dated the [blank] day of [blank] in the year of our Lord, one thousand [blank] hundred [blank] Whereas, the above bounden [blank] is now in custody of the above named James Morris, as sheriff ... on civil process only, and is permitted by the said sheriff to go at large within the liberties of the jail ... Now the condition of the above obligation is such, that if the said [blank] shall remain a true and faithful prisoner, and shall not at any time, or in any wise escape, or go without the limits of the said liberties, until discharged by due course of law, and shall at the request of the said James Morris, surrender himself to the said prison: then the above obligation to be void, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.
