January 28, 1807. Read the first and second time, and committed to the committee of the whole House, to whom was committed on the 20th instant, the amendatory bill, no. 58, to prohibit the importation or bringing of slaves into the United States, or the territories theoreof, after the 31st day of December next. An act to prohibit the importation of slaves into any port or place within the jurisdiction of the United States, from and after the first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight.
