City of New-York. ss : Be it remembered, that on the [blank] day of [blank] in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety [blank] of the [blank] Ward of the city of New-York [blank] personally came before me [blank] one of the aldermen of the city of New-York, and one of the justices assigned to keep the peace in and for the said city, and acknowledged himself to owe to the people of the state of New-York, the sum of [blank] pounds, good and lawful money of the said state, to be made and levied of his goods and chattels, lands and tenements to the use of the said people, if default shall be made in the condition following, viz. The condition of this recognizance is such, that if the above bounden [blank] shall personally appear at the next Court of General Sessions of the Peace ... and there testify and give such evidence in behalf of the people of the state of New-York, as he knoweth concerning [blank] and do not depart thence, without leave of the court, then this recognizance to be void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue.
