Summary:
Three astronauts are forced by NASA to participate in an elaborate hoax. Capricorn One makes the first 'manned' mission to Mars but the astronauts remain on Earth to be filmed in a studio made up to look like the Martian surface. When the empty capsule burns up on re-entry, the world believes the astronauts to be dead. A struggle ensues between the government and the astronauts whose very existence incriminates NASA.
