Joe Galloway, author of the book "We were soldiers once... and young" and UPI War Correspondent in Vietnam, speaks about his experience with American troops in the battle of Ia Drang in the central highlands of South Vietnam, where he found himself both covering and participating in the fighting. Galloway explains why the U.S. 1st Cavalry Division was there on November 14, 1965 in the first major battle of the Vietnam war and says that U.S. soldiers were vastly outnumbered and that by the time the battle ended more than 200 U.S. soldiers and more than 1,000 North Vietnamese troops had been killed.
