Kinzler, Fiske and Emory say they feel that Americans in general have been too forgiving and even apologetic to the Japanese. Ed and Connie Ichinawa, former internees of the Tule Lake War Relocation Center in Newell, California, describe prejudice and mistreatment they have experienced living in the U.S. Gussie Ornellas, a civilian who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor, describes the civilian death toll in the attack, about half of them from friendly fire.
