Description
Summary:
Robert Coles, noted child psychiatrist, author, and professor emeritus at Harvard University, talks about a letter he wrote to Mary "Bunt" Townsend Percy, wife of Louisiana author Walker Percy in July 1990, shortly after Percy's death. Coles says that he was attracted to Percy's writing because of the author's wisdom and that Walker and Mary Percy had an intellectual and working relationship similar to his relationship with his wife Jane Coles. Coles also talks about how formative his education was, lecturing to Harvard Law students and the conflicts he had with Harvard presidents while teaching at the university. Part five of a five part discussion of Coles' personal correspondence. Coles is interviewed by David Cooper, Michigan State University professor of Professor Writing, Rhetoric and American Cultures, in Concord, MA.
