In particular, Coles highlights his letters to Harvard Dean of Arts and Sciences Henry Rosovsky in December 1974, and a letter to Nancy Denis at the Ford Foundation in June 1973. He talks about people who have influenced him in his life, including poet William Carlos Williams, his parents and family life, his civil rights work, his therapy techniques, and the places he has lived. Coles says that he knows several U.S. Supreme Court Justices and also talks about his relationship with Harvard psychoanalyst Erik Erikson, rock singer Bruce Springsteen, social activist Dorothy Day and his long association with the Kennedy clan. Coles is interviewed by David Cooper, Michigan State University professor of Professor Writing, Rhetoric and American Cultures, in Concord, MA.
