Biographical Sketch:	The Young Socialist Club at Michigan State University was awarded its first charter by student government in April, 1959. The purpose of the club was to "foster and encourage the study of socialism." The group was opposed by veterans and ROTC groups and had difficulty finding a faculty advisor.
