Description
Summary:
The Sakuddei live on the island of Siberut in the Mentawai archipelago off the west coast of Sumatra. In the center of the island are a few valleys almost completely cut off from the outside world. The Sakuddei live there in an egalitarian society with no work specialization, in near-perfect balance with their environment. The film contrasts this untouched clan life with what is happening to those Mentawaians who are coming into contact with more modern Indonesian society, when for the first time they encounter money, missionaries, police stations, and lumber companies.
