Description
Summary:
Each year, aspiring filmmakers are invited to work with seasoned professionals at Robert Redford's Sundance Film Institute in an atmosphere that encourages creativity and experimentation. This program tracks the progress of two workshop participants as they receive advice on dialogue from Julius Epstein, writer of Casablanca, and on plot from Ring Lardner, Jr., writer of M*A*S*H; edit film with Paul Hirsch, editor of Star Wars; and discuss motivation with Redford himself, known at the Institute as "Ordinary Bob." Free from the commercial pressures of Hollywood, Sundance projects have scored notable successes with alternative films such as Desert Bloom, El Norte, and The Promised Land.
