520 |a Entrepreneur Reginald "Reggie" Webb was born in South Bend, Indiana, on March 25, 1948. In 1958, Webb went South to help his great-grandparents on their farm for a year. In 1959, Webb moved to South Central Los Angeles with his grandmother, and was mentored by Reverend T.M. Chambers and by an elderly Jewish woman, Sally Smalley, his grandmother's employer. After high school, Reggie joined the Coast Guard. When discharged, Webb attended California State University, becoming involved in the War on Poverty. In 1973, he joined McDonald's, quickly rising through the corporate ranks. In 1985, Webb bought his first two franchises, and later owned eleven McDonald's restaurants in Southern California. Webb chaired the National Leadership Council for McDonald's owner/operators, and was CEO of the National Black McDonald's Operators Association. Webb was the recipient of the 365Black award from McDonald's in 2004. His daughter was a partner in one of his franchises.
