520 |a Broadcast executive Sheryl Riley Gripper was born on December 16, 1951 in South Waco, Texas. She received her B.A. degree in English from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Georgia State University earning two masters degrees, one in education and the other in film. Gripper founded the Film Preservation Project for Black Women in 1997 while working on her master's degrees. She then worked as promotions manager at WETV-Channel 30 and WABE-FM. Gripper won four Emmy Awards and created the Bronze Jubilee Awards, a program that annually honored African American culture. She served as vice president of community relations for WXIA-TV Channel 11 where she worked as a producer for 11 Alive's Community Service Awards. She founded the Black Women Film Network and was published in Atlanta Business Journal's "100 Most Influential African American Women in Atlanta". Gripper wrote and produced the documentary, "I Didn't Make Him, God Did".
