Summary: |
Biopic about the final years of the life of Czech journalist and national hero, Julius Fučík, following his arrest by the Gestapo in 1942. The film depicts Fučík's arrest, his imprisonment in Prague for his Communist Party membership and his resistance activities, and the interrogation and torture he endures before being executed in Berlin in 1943. During his time in prison he is able to write notes about his time in prison on small pieces of paper supplied by sympathetic guards. These notes were later published as Notes From the Gallows. |
