The 91st birthday celebrations of American scholar, W.E.B. Dubois, during a visit to China. Dubois is the guest of honour at a celebration dinner where he receives gifts, poems and pictures, and watches a children's dance performance. The mass production process of the new D65 industrial lathe. A new post office in Peking where people can purchase stamps, magazines and newspapers from vending machines. Pupils at a Tibetan Primary School set up a meteorological station near the Potala Palace where they learn how to forecast the weather. Pupils train in a new 130 metre indoor swimming pool at the Peking Institute of Physical Training.
