Adolph Hitler talks with Gustaf Mannerheim, commander-in-chief of the Finnish Defence Forces during Hitler's visit to Finland. In the only known recording of Hitler speaking in his normal, conversational voice, the leaders have a candid conversation covering a variety of topics including the failure of Operation Barbarossa, Soviet tank production, the invasion of France, Italian defeats in North Africa and the Balkans, and the strategic value of Romanian oil wells. Recorded surreptitiously by Finnish sound engineer Thor Damen of the Finnish broadcasting company YLE. Ends abruptly as the SS discovers the microphone and halts the recording.
