520 |a Former FBI Director James Comey testifies before the Senate Intelligence Committee, chaired by Richard Burr (R-NC) on Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Mark R. Warner (D-VA) clarifies the purpose for the committee's hearing and details several statements made by Trump during his campaign and after the election relevant to the Russian interference investigation and leading up to Comey's firing. In his first public appearance since his May 2017 dismissal, Comey says he has no doubt that he was fired for the role he played in the investigation, and details meetings and conversations he had with President Trump prior to his firing. Comey also declares the Russians did interfere with the 2016 elections and did so with purpose and sophistication.
