Transonic flow and mixed equations / Cathleen S. Morawetz ; introduced by M. Salah Baouendi.

With a short review of mixed equations and a discussion of compressible flow, Morawitz illustrates the phenomenon of shocks in transonic flow and describes computations made in 1970s showing that these shocks could be smoothed by clever design.
