1862 Joint Resolutions regarding the jurisdiction of Virginia, which resolved that its boundaries must be maintained. Of note, West Virginia, made of part of Virginia, became a state in the Union on June 20, 1863.

Note:"Whereas the public enemy, invited by domestic foes, being in power within some of the counties in Virginia ... Resolved ... that in no event will the state of Virginia submit to, or consent to the loss of a foot of her soil ..."
