Norio Shibata talks about how he became involved with a group that helps Korean hibakusha; he says that he became interested in helping hibakusha after reevaluating how he viewed the world following his recovery from an acute heart attack, and his wife has an interest in Korean culture and history that grew out of her study of Japanese history. He was introduced to the idea through an acquaintance he made in the mountaineering group he joined after his surgery. He talks about his father's experiences during the war, including his time as a prisoner of war, and mentions that his father's younger brother died in the bombing of Hiroshima. He talks about his aunt and uncle who lived in Hawaii and remembers that they sent him chocolate and clothes when he was a child. He talks about his volunteer activities in addition to his work with hibakusha, including volunteering to help people with visual impairments. He talks about his involvement in antiwar activities and his opposition to using nuclear power.
