|a In this installment of "Western Michigan at work," Dr. Willis Dunbar profiles the EJ Kelly Division of the Sun Chemical Corporation located in Kalamazoo. He describes how they produce 2.5 Million pounds of ink each year and how a number of large manufacturers in the area depend on their ink for printing on their packaging. Dunbar discusses how the ink is produced and the difference between ink and paint. Cecil Weston, the person in charge of matching and formulation at the plant, shares how they prevent the ink from running when wet or fading in the sun. Eddie Bartholomew, a worker at the plant, talks about the importance of the varnish and how it is produced.
