Description
Summary:
The book is the outcome of a collaborative work from 2018 to 2019 between the Universidad de las Artes de Guayaquil (UArtes Ecuador) and the Faculty of Art of the UNICEN (Uiversidad Nacional del Centro de la Provincia de Buenos Aires). The book is the first articulated work resulting from this collaboration and has the participation of researchers, activists and audiovisual artists from Argentina, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, the United States and Bolivia who contribute their views on audiovisual artistic activism from the various contemporary Latin American realities. "Social movements -here we do want to point to that popular-majority "people"- use audiovisual tools to make visible and give voice to their struggles, to denounce aggressions, to defend themselves from false arrests, to fill social networks with content as a new political and digital battlefield against traditional media. In short: to avoid silencing, manipulation and media censorship. Militant films have served throughout history to reflect on struggles, for discussion and organization. Traditionally, cinema has been a social tool" (HKB Translation) --Page 7.
